Georgia Gazette Thursday, May 14, 2009
Join host Rickey Bevington tonight for Georgia Gazette. It was a fat-free budget this year and compared to last year Governor Sonny Perdue barely cut any money from it. And, as Perdue signs into law a measure giving Georgia some of the strictist immigration measures in the country, the latest census estimates find that minorities are edging closer to forming a majority in the state. A team of Mercer University students who built prosthetic limbs are travelling 9,000 miles away to give the gift of walking to amputees of the Vietnam war. And as we do every Thursday, we preview tonight’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra broadcast on GPB and give you another chance to win our weekly giveaway. These stories and more tonight on Georgia Gazette at 6, 7 in Athens, re-broadcast at 11, hear our show any time at www.gpb.org/georgiagazette , and download a free podcast on iTunes.
